Terms of use

These terms govern the use of Pictomatic, at https://pictomatic.josepjau.me, offered by Josep Jaume Rey Peroy (the "owner"; full details are in the legal notice). Asking for a sign-in code is accepting them; the account keeps the date and the version.

1. What Pictomatic is

A tool to prepare vocabularies and sentence sheets with pictograms for each student, and print them: words drawn from a text with the help of a language model, ARASAAC's pictograms, sheets, games and exports. It is for adults who work with students who need augmentative communication: speech therapists, teachers, therapists and families.

2. The account

  • You sign in with a code we send to your email. There is no password: whoever can read your email can enter your account, so protect it.
  • An account is personal. You must be of legal age.
  • Centres group students, projects and members. Whoever creates a centre on behalf of an organisation — a school, a practice — declares they have the authority to bind it, including to the data processing agreement.
  • A centre's administrators invite other people into it. Each person answers for what they do.

3. The students' data

The centre decides which students' data goes into Pictomatic and makes sure it has the right to: the legal basis for processing it, the information to families and, for each photo, the consent the app asks for when it is uploaded. Pictomatic processes it on the centre's behalf, under the data processing agreement and the privacy policy.

4. The pictograms

The pictograms are ARASAAC's (Government of Aragon, author Sergio Palao), under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence: attribution, non-commercial use, share alike. Pictomatic neither sells nor charges for them: what is paid for is the service. In using them, also outside Pictomatic, you must respect the licence — keep the attribution notice every export carries and make no commercial use — and ARASAAC's terms.

5. The language model

The words and sentences Pictomatic proposes are generated by a language model. They are a proposal: it can be wrong, leave things out or propose what is not suitable. Whoever uses them with a student reviews them. Pictomatic makes no diagnosis and replaces no professional's judgement.

6. Plans and credits

  • Every request to the model spends credits, which belong to the centre. The price in credits of each action is shown on the button before it is taken.
  • Monthly credits renew every month and do not accumulate; extra credits do not expire. Spent credits are not refunded.
  • The plans, their limits and their prices are the ones the centre's settings show at the time of taking one. Prices are in euros and with the applicable taxes. Payment is made by the means the page offers.
  • When a plan ends nothing is deleted: the centre can keep reading and exporting what it has, and only making more or spending credits waits for a new plan.
  • We may change prices: we will tell you at least a month ahead, and the change does not affect time already paid for.
  • If you contract as a consumer, you have 14 days to withdraw from the contract. If the service has already begun at your request, the proportional part of what was used is deducted.

7. What may not be done

  • Putting in people's data without the right to.
  • Using Pictomatic for anything illegal, or to harm anyone.
  • Trying to access accounts or centres that are not yours, or overloading the service.
  • Reselling the service or making commercial use of the pictograms.

If anyone does, we may close their account.

8. Your data and your exports

What you put into Pictomatic is yours, or the centre's. You give us only the right to process it to give you the service. You can export vocabularies and sheets whenever you like (PDF, ZIP). If you delete a student, a project or a centre, what was in it is deleted; to delete the account, write to us.

9. Availability and liability

We do what we can to keep Pictomatic running, but cannot promise it will never stop: it depends on providers and on others' services (ARASAAC, the model). The service is offered as it is. To the extent the law allows, the owner is not liable for indirect damage nor for what is done with the generated content, and their liability is limited to what the centre paid in the previous twelve months. None of this limits the rights the law gives consumers.

10. Ending

You can stop using Pictomatic whenever you like. We may stop offering it with three months' notice, or close an account that breaks these terms. In both cases you will have time to export what is there.

11. Changes to the terms

If they change in anything that affects you, we will tell you by email or on sign-in, a month ahead if the change matters. Continuing to use Pictomatic afterwards is accepting them. The version in force is the one of September 27, 2026.

12. Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Spanish law. For any dispute, if you act as a consumer, the courts of your domicile have jurisdiction; otherwise, those of the owner's domicile. Consumers in the European Union also have the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
